  I sure wish that this review was better, and I do believe that it has all the makings of being better. The design and atmosphere of the restaurant is not consistent -- bright lights, dim lights, rustic, and contemporary, the restaurant needs to decide what it wants to be. The service, was not professional. I do not think the fault of the servers but I believe a training issue from the owners or management. We arrived at 6:30 PM, a band started shortly after arrival, and it was much too loud. My suggestion is that if a restaurant decides it wants live music during dining hours it should be matched to The restaurants purpose and intentions. It made the atmosphere feel more bar like versus a Southern style kitchen. The menu did not match the atmosphere. The food matched the problem with the overall experience of the restaurant, some of the good, some of that bad. The porkchops were overcooked, The chicken and gravy was very good. The sides of collard greens and applesauce were very good.
  
  Belmont is such a charming downtown, and if this restaurant was run well, it could be a massive hit.

  The restaurant alright. Had a 12:30 reservation but we were seated 20 minutes later. They use non-filtered tap water, but soda and coffee were good. My son's food came out cold. They happily took it back and brought him hot food. However, he thinks they microwaved it. I don't know, but he did say that his food was good. My daughter said her food didnt' have much flavor. As for my dish, I had the breakfast biscuit which was very tasty! I would give 4 stars but both of the things my son ordered were cold and the wait for your food to be served is too long.
